Sharon Lee (Olson) Sommerlot, 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on October 6, 2020, at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Family burial will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed toward the family. She graduated from Albion High School in 1955. On June 17, 1956 Sharon was united in marriage to Leon Sommerlot at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown.  Sharon was a homemaker early in their marriage, staying home with their two sons Mike and Mark.  She worked as a secretary for a short time in a local attorneys’ office before embarking on a long career as a secretary/bookkeeper for Bob’s Feed and Supply in Marshalltown.  She later worked at Tractor Supply Company in Marshalltown and also for the Times Republican newspaper before her retirement.  Sharon loved to watch her birds and squirrels in the company of her beloved dog Sparky. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Michael (Raelene) Sommerlot of Marshalltown and Mark (Rosemary) Sommerlot of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Matthew (Jamie) Sommerlot of Urbana, IA and Melissa (Clint) Bitting of Chanhassen, MN and great-grandchildren Bennett Bitting, Cole Bitting, Finnegan Sommerlot and Harper Sommerlot. Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Leon and by her parents: Arden and Marion Olson.
