William Reese Obituary

William S. Reese, 94, of Sandusky, died Monday, October 5, 2020 at Ohio Veteran's Home after a short illness. Bill was born November 30, 1925 in New Philadelphia, OH and he had been a life long Cleveland resident moving to Sandusky in 2019. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII and the Korean War. Bill worked as a policeman for the NYC Railroad now Conrail. He worked his way up from Patrolman to Captain over his 40 year career, retiring in 1987. He was a life member of the VFW and served as past commander of Post #7727. Bill enjoyed woodworking and loved trains. He collected model trains and belonged to several train clubs. He along with his son, Bob helped build the train observation deck in Vermilion. Bill was very involved with his children as a Boy Scout leader and influenced the life of many young people over the course of his life. He is survived by his sons, Bill P. (Connie) Reese of North Point, FL and Robert A. (Pamela) Reese of Vermilion; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his sister, Jean A. Fischer of Avon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie B. (Markus) Reese; second wife, Clara V. (Harrel) Reese; his companion of 12 years, Agnes M. Slominsky; and his sister, Donna M Meehan. Graveside services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in the spring of 2021.
