Richard “Dick” Leonard Parsons, of Elgin, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at his residence. A Viewing will be held at Loveland Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 8, 2020 3:00-5:00pm. A Graveside service will be held at Elgin Cemetery on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 2:00pm. Casual dress is preferred by the family. Attendees must wear a mask and practice social distancing to meet COVID-19 guidelines. Dick was born on October 8, 1925, in Elgin, Oregon to Leonard and Elsie (Aldred) Parsons. He was raised in Elgin and attended Elgin Stella Mayfield Elementary and graduated from Elgin High School, where he was on the Basketball and Baseball teams. He married Gerry Follett and they later divorced. He married Betty Rysdam, and they later divorced and he is currently married to Laura Peck Johnston. Dick was a rancher, farmer and a logger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gold mining and wood working. Dick was a member of the Elks, NRA Elgin School Board, and the Soil & Water Conservation District. Dick is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Lennie Parsons (Shawn) of Gold Bar, WA, Ron Parsons (Janice) of Elgin, OR and Claudia Fellows (Jack) of Milton-Freewater, OR; 7 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Elsie; siblings, Ruby Kuhn (Howard), Chloe Phippen (Milton), LaRue Parsons, Alta Benett-Hunt (Jesse Benett) (John Hunt), June Holowitz-Gray (Gerald) and Dell E. Parsons (Sally). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made at the Shriner’s Children Hospital, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd, Portland, OR 97239
