Michael J. Dwyer Lewisporte, Newfoundland and Labrador Obituary

Michael J. Dwyer

Passed peacefully away in the presence of loved ones on Sunday, October 4th, 2020. Mr. Michael Joseph (Mick) Dwyer of Lewisporte at the age of 67. Predeceased by parents, Captain Leo Dwyer Sr, and Kathleen (Nee Burke). Leaving to mourn are his son Mark (Jenny Aningga); daughter, Michelle (Lee) Nippard; grandchildren: Alec, Kathleen, and Michael; sisters: Maureen (Gerald Dwyer), Clara (Lloyd Fudge), Helen (Gordon Day), Anita and Millie (Glen Mews); brothers: Leo, Chris (Heather), and Anthony (Connie). As well as a large circle of other family and friends. Michael lived his life to the fullest and fought fiercely till his last moment. He was a gifted writer who published two novels chronicling his experience at sea. He was also a 2nd degree black belt, who received his final belt from Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama in 1996. Always up for an adventure, Michael loved the woods, water, and sound of hounds in pursuit. He watched the sun rise and set over many a river. Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, a funeral service and burial will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lewisporte. You can always remember dad in other ways: sing a song loudly, spin a yarn, have a laugh, take a loved one for ice cream, take the time for ‘one more cast’.
