Gloria Perez Obituary

Gloria was born to Rafael and Delfina Landeros on June 2,1935 in Madera, CA.
She had 9 brothers and sisters. Gloria is survived by her husband of 63 years
Magdaleno Perez Sr. She had one daughter and 4 sons and in February 1977
adopted her firstborn granddaughter as her own daughter. Gloria has 17
grandkids, 26 great grandkids, and 2 great great grandkids.
She met her husband while working in the tomato fields as a teenage girl,
where her father was a contractor. On March 15, 1957 she married
Magdaleno in Salinas, CA where Magdaleno was stationed as a Private in the
Army.
Gloria enjoyed her childhood. She told stories of watching her dad work on
cars, how he added rooms to their tiny home, how he made candies from
scratch to sell so they could buy essential items for their home , how he would
sit and write books ( he was fascinated with outer space), the trips they
would take as kids on their bus to the beach. How her mom would make
delicious home cooked meals, and how she used to make their clothes out of
flour sacks that had cute patterns on them. She would talk about walking to
the movie theatre with her best friend Connie.
She learned what hard work was from a young age. She started out by
working in the fields with her siblings and parents. Then she worked at
Perlongo’s bakery, soon after she started her own catering truck business and
eventually opened her own recycling businesses.
The love that Gloria had for her family was unconditional. Her house was
always open to anyone who needed a place to stay, her meals were always
warm and filling. She would get mad if anyone hurt any of her kids and
grandkids, often scolding the person who was to blame.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, the trips that she would love
to take to the casino, Sal’s which was her favorite place to eat, and all the
beautiful flowers that she would love to plant outside her home.
Her battle was hard, she never gave up. Her strength and prayers carried her
through her roughest times in life. The love for her family and the family’s
love for her will always live in our hearts.
