Wiley Ray Maris Obituary

The sun first rose on Wiley Maris on July 5, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas, and set on him for the final time on September 27, 2020, in Commerce, Texas. Wiley was a graduate of Lamar High School and spent 44 years with Shell Oil. Much of his time with Shell was in the position of Senior Pressure Equipment Inspector. Wiley loved motorcycles and enjoyed cooking, fishing and boating, playing dominos with family and volunteering with the Pasadena Rodeo. He had a wonderful way of making those around him feel so important and cared for. He was the man that would stop on the side of the road to help a stranger change a flat tire. His daughter, Jennifer, counts herself lucky to have had a dad that would spend hours in bookstores and believed in her enough to fund her college education. Wiley was looking forward to fully retiring in the near future and spending his days at his lake house on Lake Fork. Those who loved him find peace in knowing that he left this world doing something he loved. Wiley is survived by his mom Fran Maris, his sister Sheryl Gaines, his daughter Jennifer Maris and his nephew Richard Gaines. He is predeceased by his dad, Charlie Maris.
