Mr. Larry Byron Hayes, age 72, of Sharpsburg, GA, passed away on October 1, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Gordon Lee Hayes of Atlanta and mother, Velma Brown Hayes of Fairburn, the late Robert Newton Hutcheson and Frances Matthews Hutcheson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Sonny Edmondson and Robert “Bob” Hutcheson. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hutcheson Hayes; daughters, Michelle Hayes Clark and Mark Clark of Newnan and Jennifer Hayes Williams and Sam Williams of Loganville; grandchildren, Taylor, Joey and wife Laura, Zachary, Kendall, Makenzie, Cameron and Maci; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Jackson; brothers, Darrell and wife Linda, Gary and Paul Hayes; and sister, Sheryl Hayes Zak and Steve; Sisters-in-laws, Peggy Gallagher and Angie Hutcheson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hayes was a great family man. He was married for 52 years to his childhood sweetheart, Gloria. His greatest pleasure in life was being with his family. His greatest joy was being a husband, father and grandfather. He always had a smile and a laugh when he was around his family.
Mr. Hayes was a member of Kenwood Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA. He loved his church family. He was involved in the Awana, bus and visitation program for many years and had a passion for reaching children for the Lord.
Mr. Hayes was employed by Coca Cola Bottling Company and retired after 25 years. He went on to work with Mauldin's and Direct Insurance Companies.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Kenwood Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Holly Hills Memorial Park in Fairburn. The family will receive visitors on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City.
