Harold G. Eidsness Obituary

Harold G. Eidsness, age 90, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Brocket, ND, died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.

Harold Glen Eidsness was born August 27, 1930, the son of Olav and Grace (Cunningham) Eidsness, on the family farm in Newbre Township, near Brocket, ND, where he had lived until age 62.  He was baptized and confirmed at Hoff Lutheran Church, and attended the Newbre and the Hope Schools.  Harold married Peggy Hatten on October 12, 1951 at Southam, ND.  They operated the family farm together.  During the winter months he held various jobs and enjoyed snowmobiling.  Peggy died June 26, 1990.  Harold married Beverly (Johnson) Hejlik on May 30, 1992 at Lakota, where the couple made their home.  Harold continued farming into his 80’s, until he fired himself.  He was always willing to help anybody with any need.  Over the years, he enjoyed membership in the Elks Club of Devils Lake, the Newbre School Board, the Brocket Co-Op, United Lutheran Church of Brocket, and Lakota Lutheran Church.

Harold will be deeply missed by his wife, Bev Eidsness; 3 children, Glenda (Darrell) Jamsa of Starkweather, ND, Lorna (Ron) Benson of Mott, ND, and Harold W. “Harley” (Pat) Eidsness of Lakota; 5 step-daughters, Pam (Jack) Davidson, Patty (Kerry) Slinde, Peggy (Al) Stieg, Paula (Dean) Duvall, and Brenda (John) Robinson; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Grace Liscom of Seattle, WA; and 1 brother, Grant Eidsness of West Fargo, ND.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; sister, Agnes Olson; and 2 brothers, George and Mervin.

A graveside service will be held at the Devils Lake Cemetery, Devils Lake, ND, on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.  Officiating will be the Reverend Lori Pankratz, Pastor of Lakota Lutheran Church.  All of Harold’s grandchildren are considered to be honorary urn bearers.
