<p>Mrs. Bertha Mathews Hawkins was born on July 12, 1959 to the late Mr. Sam &amp; Mrs. Rosie Mae Mathews in Greenville, Alabama.</p> <p>Bertha joined Mt. Ida Baptist Church at an early age&nbsp; to show her devotion and belief in Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. She later became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she accepted Christ in her life and became member of the traveling senior choir, she was the president of the Missionary Board, she was over the sack lunch program in the community, she worked at Home Health Care for many years, she also worked as a substitute teacher at W. O. Parmer cafeteria in Greenville, AL.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Mathews and 2 foster daughters.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving, caring and devoted husband of (41) years, Mr. Sammy Hawkins, 3 children: Sammy (LaTeya) Hawkins Jr, LaTonya (Jonathan) Hawkins all of Greenville, AL and Timothy (Tykeylia) Hawkins; 8 grandchildren all of Greenville, Al; she shared her life with 7 siblings: Jimmy Mathews, Irene Peterson, Sammie Hamilton, Ellen (Joe) Hamilton, Annie (Willie) Williams and Edd (Sadie) Mathews all of Greenville, AL; Henry (Martha) Jackson of Birmingham, AL; two step sisters in Los Angeles, CA; one sister in law, Daisy (Timothy) Craig; 2 brothers in law, Willie Hawkins Jr. and Dexter Hawkins; one very special uncle; Mr. Robert Hawkins Sr. and a very devoted host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
