Obituary

Mrs. Shirley Phillips of Hinton, Alberta, beloved wife of Tony Phillips, passed away peacefully

and surrounded by family on September 27, 2020 at the age of 82 years.

Shirley was born December 16, 1937 at Bassano, Alberta. She married her true love and best

friend Tony on April 1, 1967 and had four beautiful children.

Shirley obtained her teaching degree from the University of Alberta and taught as an elementary

teacher early on and later enjoyed working in adult education.

Shirley had a love for travelling and made many trips to the UK and Wales over the years

where she enjoyed visiting her relatives in North and South Wales. She spent many hours

giving back to her community and could often be found volunteering at the Share Shop or with

Bridges. She enjoyed spending time with friends including the famous Friday night dinners

which she always looked forward to. She was fond of the theatre, art, and listening to all types

of music; her favourite being Celtic music.

Of course Shirley’s greatest love was spending time with her family. She could always be found

making wonderful meals and baking. Shirley loved to buy her grandkids gifts and spoil them with

treats and love. This is what made her happiest.

Shirley will always be held close in our hearts and lovingly remembered by her husband Tony

Phillips, her children David Phillips, Sian and MIke Haack, Hywel and Marlys Phillips and

Rhiannon and Mike Watts. Her grandchildren Reid, Jenna and Bryn Haack along with Emma,

Kieran and Carys Watts will forever cherish their memories. Shirley will be dearly missed by

her surviving brother Robert Price, many friends, nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents Robert and Yvette Price and sister Betty Fischer.

A private memorial service will take place at The Lady of the Foothills Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer

Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care and

compassion provided by Dr Sarah Corser, Dr Noel Corser and the nursing staff at the Hinton

General Hospital.
