Odis Lane

Odis “Junior” Lane Jr., age 78, husband of Wanda Scoggins Roberson Lane, of Forest City passed away Sunday October 4 at his home. Junior was a native of Rutherford County, a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of Second Baptist Church Rutherfordton. He was preceded in death by his first wife Vivian Merchant Lane, parents Odis and Margaret Queen Lane, sister Libby Heffner and brother Buddy Lane. In addition to his wife Wanda, Junior leaves to cherish his memory his children Tracy (Mike) Tolbert of Lawndale, Kevin (Shelly) Lane of Forest City and Shawn (Kim) Lane of Morganton; step children Tony (Lisa) Roberson of Rutherfordton, Michael (Danielle) Roberson of Mill Spring and Jill Roberson of Forest City; 22 Grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. A celebration of Junior’s life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday October 7 at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Stephenson and Rev. Brandon Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Eternal Hills Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard. Junior will lie in state from 9-5 PM Tuesday, October 6, at Crowe’s Mortuary and from 1-2 PM Wednesday, October 7, at Second Baptist Church Rutherfordton. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043 The family would like to give a special thanks to Katelon Moore and Debbie Thompson as well as the entire staff of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for the great care they gave Junior.
