Dominick R. Arteritano Obituary

Dominick R. Arteritano, 95, of Vandergrift, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 in St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born November 15, 1921 in Vandergrift, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Marsico) Arteritano. He was a 1939 graduate of Vandergrift High School and attended Point Park and the University of Pittsburgh where he obtained a degree in accounting. Dom was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII where he participated in the 101st Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge. Dom was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift where he was involved with the Men’s Club, and cooked for their spaghetti dinners. Dom was past President of the Kiski Area School Board and was an officer of the former Sons of Italy. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy F. Arteritano, who passed away on December 11, 2008; daughter, Dorothy Toncini who passed away on May 3, 2015; and a brother, Joseph Arteritano. Dom is survived by his son, Marc A. Arteritano of Pittsburgh; granddaughter, Lauren L. Toncini of West Vandergrift; son-in-law, Ronald Toncini of West Vandergrift; sister, Rita N. Manganello of Vandergrift; sister-in-law, Mariam Arteritano of Lower Burrell; and eleven nephews and five nieces. At Dom’s request there will be no visitation. A blessing service will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068 with Father James Loew officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dom’s memory to ACHIEVA Development Office, 711 Bingham St. Pittsburgh, PA 15203. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brady-Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 429 Franklin Ave. Vandergrift.
