Patricia Jane Bornemeier Weeping Water, Nebraska Obituary

Patricia Jane Bornemeier

Patricia Jane Christner Bornemeier, 88, joined her beloved husband Donald on October 1, 2020. She peacefully snuck out in her sleep, to be with Jesus and Don. Pat was born in October 1931 to Jason and Anna (Barnett) Christner “on the kitchen table”, near Hamlet, Nebraska. She graduated high school in 1949, obtained a teaching certificate from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1951, and moved to Murdock, Nebraska to teach kindergarten. There she met Donald Bornemeier, who helped her get her car out of a snowy ditch (“I was certain I was stuck—he just drove it out.”) They were married on June 15, 1952 in Hamlet, Nebraska (“the hottest day of the year, 110 degrees in the shade!”) After a few years of moving around while Don was in the Army, they settled in Murdock, Nebraska in 1955. Pat was a substitute teacher for many years, then began a career at the Louisville Care Center where she eventually became the Social Services Director, connecting with and caring for all the residents for twenty five years. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, brothers William and David, sister-in-law Charlotte, and husband. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Gene) McDonald of Sterling, Colorado; sister-in-law Sharon (Rod) Heim of Lincoln, daughters Cindy (Bill) Farewell of Lincoln, Debra (Tony) Snyder of Murdock, Andrea (Tarie Hoverman) Bornemeier of Beatrice, son Daniel (Brenda) Bornemeier of Murdock, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends galore!
