Florence Mae FRANKLIN Obituary

It is with sadness the family of Florence Mae Franklin announce her passing at Royal University Hospital on September 30, 2020 at the age of 82 years.

Mom was born in Milden on August 3, 1938, the second oldest in the family of five. She was raised on the family farm and took her schooling in Milden. Mom and her older sister helped raise the younger siblings. Mom married Fred Franklin on December 7, 1957 - she said they were married on the coldest day of the year. They resided in Rosetown and she never worked outside the home while raising her family, other than when she took on a part-time job at the Brass Hood for a few years.

In her younger years, she loved to go back to the farm to help raise chickens, garden, help with harvest and pick raspberries. On Sunday’s, Mom would go to the farm and she and Grandma would do quilting and make wooden lawn ornaments. Mom loved spending hours crocheting afghans and doilies, doing embroidery and sewing garments. In the winter, her favorite past times were playing cards, carpet bowling, shuffleboard and bingo. She loved family get togethers - she would always suggest that we have an annual BBQ. Those kinds of things meant a lot to her, more than anyone ever knew.

Mom is survived by her children Lois (Dave) Letawsky, Eleanor (Bernie) Martinson, Ken (Alix) and Warren (Merle), 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, sisters Colleen (Wayne) and Maureen (Dave), brother Garry (Ruth) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Annie and Albert Ryan, husband Fred, son Richard, sister Carmel, sister-in-law Elva and her mother and father-in-law.

A Graveside Service was held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 which would have been Florence's 83rd birthday at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to STARS, Hangar 21, 2475 Airport Road, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 1M4 or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9.
