Helen Margaret Dye, born September 1, 1929 in Fort Worth, Texas, died on September 30, 2020. She was the twin sister of Frances Hester of Melbourne, FL. Helen and Frances were raised by their grandparents who were from Oslo, Norway and who chattered to each other in Norwegian. She was married to Robert Etheridge Dye on October 4, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas. After Robert finished with the United States Air Force, Robert and Helen moved to Robert's hometown, Memphis, Tennessee. She was the mother to four daughters. Helen was also the first female Director of Sales for the Downtowner Hotel. Helen was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star, being elected as a Past Grand-Ruth of the TN chapter. She enjoyed camping, cooking for her family, and painting ceramics. Above all, she cherished her girls. She was a member of Lucy Baptist Church. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Dye; her daughter, Patricia (Patti) Thomas; and her sister, Frances Hester. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Greg Yost) Bellows, Cheryl (Dan) Woofter, and Robin (Robert) Huber; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel at 7450 Raleigh Millington Road, Millington, TN 38053, (901) 873-0123. The family respectfully asks you to wear a face mask and to observe social distancing guidelines.
