Allister Turner
Allister Seymour Turner, age 89, of New Glasgow, passed away September 30, 2020 at his residence. Born in Westville, he the last immediate family member of the late Joseph and Margaret (Bigney) Turner. As a young man, he was a member of the Westville Army Cadet Corp. He served with the R.C.A.F. from 1950-1955 and the Royal Canadian Corp. of Signals from 1961-1970. Allister was a radio technician at the Dock Yards in Halifax after his military career. He enjoyed the Green Hill look off, sitting on the deck watching the birds at the feeders and playing with the neighbourhood cats. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, Oak Island, and many other T.V. shows. He is survived by his wife Vivian; blended family, son Joseph Turner; daughters Patricia “Sue” Lohnes (Richard) and Mary MacKenzie; stepchildren, Heather Cyr (Paul), Donna MacIntosh, Michael MacIntosh and Cora MacGillivray (Michael); foster child, Giles Doiron; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother Rick Fillmore (Matilda) ; many nieces and nephews; and several sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by ex wife Patricia Mason; son-in-law David MacKenzie; daughter-in-law Doreen Chadwick Turner; brothers, Joseph Allen, Jerry, and Douglas; sisters, Josephine, Mary Jane, Alice MacInnis, Mabel MacIsaac, Harriet Avery, Annie Quinn, and Pearl MacLean. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A public grave side service will be held 1 o’clock Monday, October 5 at the Auburn Cemetery, Westville with Rev.
