GALENA, KANSAS: Josephine Ilene Bennett, age 80, passed away at 6:45 pm, Wed. September 30, 2020 at her home following an illness. Josephine was born November 11, 1939 in Newton County, MO. Her parents were Marion and Vinita (Frazier) Sanders. She was a lifetime resident of Galena. She worked several years as an LPN at Galena Nursing Center and also Barker Rest Home in Galena. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Galena. Her greatest pastime was working on genealogy. Josephine was married to John A Bennett on September 8, 1956. He preceded her in death November 16, 2011. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Bennett, her parents, two brothers, Harold Sanders and Guy Sanders, and two sisters, Janie Ryder and Bonnie McCumber. Surviving are two sons, John Bennett (wife, Linda), Galena and Joe Bennett, Galena; one daughter, Anita Stewart (husband, Randy), Joplin, MO; three brothers, Marion Sanders Jr, Galena, Danny Sanders (wife, Aleta), Galena, and Bobby Sanders, state of California; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, for cremation. No services are planned at this time.
