Ismael G. Gonzalez

Ismael G. Gonzalez, 74, of El Mirage passed away peacefully at his home surrounded with his family on September, 24th in El Mirage. Born on October 20th, 1945 to Mr. Baldomero and Maria Gonzalez in Santa Rosa, TX. Mr. Gonzalez married his high school sweetheart, Juanita R. Gonzalez. He is a veteran of the U.S Army and served as a representative for local 383, the largest construction union in the world. In the 1980’s he marched alongside Cesar Chavez as a bodyguard. His biggest accomplishment was his grandchildren to which he devoted his retirement days too. All while fighting Parkinson’s Disease for 16 years. Mr. Gonzalez will be forever remembered for his ability touch the lives of anyone he met and making them feel special. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Dominga Garza, Carmen Garza, Mary Lou Doninguez, Celia Aleman, Angela Gonzalez and brother Valdemar Gonzalez. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54, Juanita (nee Rosales) Gonzalez, his children Imelda Gonzalez, Ismael Jr. Gonzalez, Michael Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez, Gabriel Gonzalez and Andrew Gonzalez. Along with 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Sunwest Funeral Home, 12525 N.W. Grand Ave., El Mirage, AZ 85335, from 5 pm to 8pm with a rosary at 6pm on Thursday October 1st. Funeral Mass will be held at Santa Teresita Catholic Church, 14016 N.
