Earlene Farrell

Earlene Farrell, age 95, went to Heaven to meet her Lord on October 1, 2020. A graveside service will be Sunday, October 4, at 2 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery on Prairieville Street, with Judy Albright officiating. Earlene was born August 21, 1925, to Earl Franklin Hudson and Goldie Fay Roberson Hudson, in Bethel Community, near Lawton, Oklahoma. Her growing up years were spent in Bethel and the Central High School communities, east of Lawton, Oklahoma, with a large extended family. She graduated from Central High School in 1943. On December 15, 1945, Earlene was married to James (Jimmy) Elmer Farrell in Bethel Community where they made their home for over 47 years. Jimmy preceded her in death on July 13, 1993. In November 1994, Earlene moved to Athens were she happily made her home near family. The past few years she resided in Arabella Senior Living Center. She and Jimmy had both retired from Lawton Public School System. In her retirement years, Earlene’s passion became watercolor art. She was an active member of Star Harbor Watercolor Society where she enjoyed painting, exhibiting, and selling original watercolor paintings. She was also a member of First Baptist Church, Athens, and was an active member of the Saints Alive Sunday School Class. She is survived by one sister, Goldie Garvene Phillips of El Paso, two daughters, Gayla Roberts, widow of J. R. (Myron) Roberts of Athens; and Jamie Stanford and husband Terry of Waco. She has four grandchildren who are Jayson Roberts of Dallas, Lacee Roberts Pierce of Nacogdoches, Lynzee Stanford Clark of Waco, and Kassidi Stanford Johnson of Waco. Her eight great grandchildren are Payton Pierce, Luke Pierce, and Zachary Pierce of Nacogdoches; and Callie Clark, Josie Clark, Brandon Clark, Noah Johnson, and Claire Johnson of Waco. Rather than flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Bethel United Methodist Church. Her grandfather donated land for it to be the social and spiritual center of that rural Oklahoma community. Donations in her honor are to be sent to Bethel United Methodist Church, c/o Melba Taliaferro, 2303 SE Bethel Rd, Lawton, OK 73501.
