Elliot V. Whoolery 96-year-old resident of Brainerd, MN passed away October 1, 2020 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Baxter, MN. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, October 6 at Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd. The family requests that you respect social distancing guidelines and please wear a mask. Elliot was born on January 12, 1924 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Dave and Lucie Whoolery. He served in World War II as an Army Combat Veteran. He was united in marriage to Donna Wedel in Oakes, North Dakota on May 31, 1950. Elliot worked as a superintendent for Brainerd Schools for 17 years. Elliot is survived by his wife, Donna Whoolery; children. Vicki (John) Seeck, Denise (Jeffrey) Gray, Stephen (Teri) Whoolery, Jeff Whoolery, Alison (Brian) Johnson; sisters, Ida Mae Judge, Elaine Adams; grandchildren, Brian Gray, Elissa Stauffacher, Hayley Smith, Thea Harrod, Evan Whoolery, Catherine Kautt, Kristen Seeck; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Kautt, Tristan Stauffacher, Graham Stauffacher, Juniper Harrod, Renley Smith, and Landynn Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, John Whoolery; daughter, Lisa Whoolery; sisters, Lila Mercatoris, and Corinne Pritchard. Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church- Brainerd, Nature Conservancy, or the Elephant Sanctuary. Arrangements are with the Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd.
