Joni L. Cogan 1954-2020 Joni Lynn Cogan (Chapman) age 65 a longtime resident of Salem County passed in peace on September 30, 2020, at her home. She was born November 28, 1954 to Donald H. and Peggy A. Chapman in Bridgeton, NJ. Joni graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1973 and Goldey-Beacom College in 1975. Joni fell in love and married her high school sweetheart Thomas D. Cogan, with whom she raised two amazing children, Jeffrey and Lindsay. Joni spent numerous hours watching and supporting their activities. She was an amazing mother who loved her children with all her heart. Joni was also a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends on holidays and special occasions. Joni also loved spending time with her grandchildren Ellie and Bryce, they were the loves of her life. Joni recently retired from Quinton Township School District after working there for 21 years. She previously worked for Pennsville School District, Busy Hands Nursery and DuPont in Delaware. Joni was predeceased by her Father, Donald H. Chapman, her sister Gail Marie, her brother-in-law, Bruce P. Maahs, her In-laws Francis J. and Joan C. Cogan. Surviving members of the family include her husband Thomas Cogan, her two children Jeffrey Cogan (Andrea), Lindsay Cogan Seagraves (Andrew Joseph), her grandchildren, Ellie and Bryce Cogan, her mother Peggy Vaughn Chapman (Paul), brother Donald Chapman Jr. (Sari), sister Lori Chapman-Maahs (Paul), Brother-in-law Francis Cogan III (Allison), Sister-in-law Patricia Ferrell (William Jr.) nieces Emily Merhige, Alissa Chapman, Macy Maahs and Joy Cogan, nephews William and Jason Ferrell, Derek and Chris Cogan, great niece Ava Merhige and her grand-dog Roxy who she loved and adored. Joni is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends who love her dearly. The family wishes to thank Hospice for their exceptional care they provided. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at the First Assembly of God, 380 Georgetown Road, Carney's Point, NJ where friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service. Burial will be private.
