Jerome Patrick O'Connor

Jerome P. O’Connor (Jerry) of Glenview, age 88 passed peacefully into eternal life November 25, 2020. Born to Crescent O’Connor and Bernice Sewell in Chicago, Illinois. Beloved husband to the late Dolores “Lorry” Hagedorn O’Connor, loving brother of Mary A. O’Connor of Palo Alto, CA, the late Dr. Joseph (the late Jane) of Glenview, the late Dr. Paul (Pam) of Oshkosh, WI, the late Denis Michael (the late Ann) of Bradenton, FL, cherished uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Jerry graduated from St. Ignatius High School. He then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He returned to Chicago to pursue a career as a Civil Engineer in Real Estate Development. Jerry married the love of his life, Lorry, in 1962. They lived in Wilmette for many years before moving to Glenview. Jerry and Lorry loved opening their home to family and friends. They also enjoyed and were involved in their many nieces’ and nephews’ lives. Jerry went on to establish O’Connor Homes, which developed many housing projects primarily in the Northwest suburbs. He was dedicated to many philanthropic causes. He was involved with St. Joseph’s Parish and School in Wilmette, St. Ignatius High School, University of Notre Dame, Mundelein Seminary, Maryville Academy, and many others. Jerry had many interests. He had a very strong faith, a passion for helping others, and an unwavering devotion to family. Jerry and Lorry loved to golf at North Shore Country Club and Desert Forest in Carefree, AZ. They also loved to travel and ski together. Jerry was also a devoted fan of Notre Dame football and the Chicago White Sox. Jerry touched many lives and will be missed by many. Due to Covid-19 restrictions social distancing and face masks are required. Funeral Mass Saturday December 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 1775 Grove Street, Glenview, IL 60025. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Northbrook.
