Mr. Howard Batton of Red Springs was born on January 14, 1942 in Marlboro County, South Carolina to the late Benjamin Batton and Myrtle Dunn Gilmore and departed this life on September 29, 2020 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center completing his journey of 78 years.<br/><br/>The funeral will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs with Pastor Harold Salmon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. <br/><br/>Mr. Batton leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 60 years: Virginia Lytch Batton of the home; two children: James Howard Batton (Louann) of Anderson, SC and Shannon Batton Baxley (Johnny) of Saint Pauls; six grandchildren: Wyndham Batton (Erin) of Belton, SC, Gaitley Batton of Greenville, SC, Graham Burns of Lumberton, Erin Baxley Washington (Joe) of Lumber Bridge, Christa Baxley (Kenny) of Saint Pauls, and Sarah Baxley of Saint Pauls; eight great-grandchildren: Hampton Batton, Lawrence Batton, A'niyah Washington, Layonna Washington, LJ Washington, Alijah Washington, Ke'Shawyn Washington, and Cameron Jackson as well as a host of relatives and friends. <br/><br/>Mr. Batton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, an Eagle Scout, and was a retired member of the Red Springs Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.<br/><br/>Services entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Red Springs.
