RICHARD GORDON JESSEE SR., 79 years of age of the Garden Creek section of Buchanan County, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center following an extended illness. Born November 23, 1940, in Russell County, he was the son of the late Ellis and Lucy Jessee. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a retried security officer for Keen Mountain Correctional Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2-Sons: Richard “Ricky” Jessee II and Randall “Randy” Jessee II both of Richlands, VA, and by 5-Brothers and 2-Sisters. Survivors include 1-Son: Robert “Robby” Jessee and wife Rachel of Vansant, VA; 10-Grandchildren, 16-Great-Grandchildren and 3-Sisters and many friends. Memorial Services for RICHARD GORDON JESSEE SR. will be conducted Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 4:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel. A special Thank You goes out to Richards caretakers Judy Justus and Gary, to his Doctors, the Pikeville Medical Center, Dr, Thakkar and to anyone else that helped him or done anything for him. We will be taking proactive measures to help prevent the spread of any potential illness. In an effort to minimize direct contact, we ask that you consider avoiding shaking hands or physical contact with the members of the family or other guests.
