Alan Ferrill Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alan Bruce Ferrill, at age 51, after a long drawn out battle with kidney disease and fighting to recover from a recent kidney transplant. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Laura, his children Ross and Beverly, his parents Rudy and Daphne, his sister Denise, his brother Rohan, his cousin Sheree (Wayne), his nieces and nephews, as well as many, many other family members and friends. Whether you knew Alan for a short moment in time or for years, he left an impression with each person’s life he touched. Everyone who met Alan commented on his positive personality, his acceptance of you regardless of who you were, and his amazing sense of humour. As a family we believe that you either laugh or cry and we chose to laugh with him always providing the joke, the silly gesture, the funny look, or the dry wit. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “It is not the length of life, but the depth of life.” In Alan’s case there is not a truer saying. He lived his life to the fullest, shared his patience and passion for helping others with everyone he met, all while battling through illness and suffering for most of his adult life. He was a courageous, loving, funny, smart man – a real life superhero - who put everyone before himself, especially his family whom he fiercely loved. There will never be another Alan Ferrill and we will all be better people for having known him. Rest now Alan, the battle is done. Family and friends are invited to gather at McKersie-Kocher Funeral Home 114 Main St. E. Milton 905-878-4452 on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private service will be held on Monday. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Everyone must follow proper health and safety advice, including physical distancing of two metres from people who are not from the same household or their established 10-person social circle. Please refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands and please keep your face mask on at all times.
