Sarah Lowry Gravel, 74, of Pascagoula, MS passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020. She was born November 27, 1945 to the late Walter Sr. and Wilma Lowry. She was raised in Wade, MS and later moved to Rochester, NY where she began a long rewarding career in property management and met her husband, James Gravel. Together, they moved to the Atlanta, GA area in 1991. Sarah had a special appreciation for all of nature’s beauty and was always drawn to the water. She grew up on Lake Wilma, enjoyed fishing under the Spanish moss on the Pascagoula River, the Fall colors in the Finger Lakes (NY), and camping on Lake Lanier (GA). From her mother, she inherited a love of reading and sewing. Sarah had a passion for sports, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball and Alabama football. Fall Sundays were for the New Orleans Saints. From Archie Manning to Drew Brees, Sarah bled Black and Gold! The night the Saints won Super Bowl XLIV, she danced a second line down Royal Street in New Orleans. Along with her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, James Gravel. She is survived by her children, Laura (Tod) Quint, Kathy (Kenny) Stuart, Denson Goff, III, and Chris (Beth) Goff; grandchildren, Justin (Emilie) Quint, Lauren (Joe Krivanec) Ray, Ashley (Landon) Johnson, Alana Ray, Christian Quint, Zach Mellott, Parker Goff, Emma Mellott, Ethan Goff, David Mellott, Maddox Goff, Kylyn Goff, and Lylah Goff; sister, Mary (Phillip) Hinton; and brother, Walter Lowry (Craig Thompson); along with many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. A memorial service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel.
