Ulie Floyd Carter, age 90 of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed from this life on September 28, 2020 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch, Joplin, MO. Ulie was born July 12, 1930 in Hockerville, Oklahoma to the union of Ollie and Estie (Hensley) Carter. He was united in marriage January 14, 1950 in Columbus, Kansas to Lorraine Gist. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He was a Lifetime Member of the Baxter Springs Historical museum and was past member of the Board. Ulie is preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Estie Carter, his wife Lorraine Carter, a daughter Nancy Kidd, a sister Louise Hamm and a great grand-daughter Clancy Grace Michael. Surviving loved ones include two daughters, Carol Moore and husband Tom of Loma Linda, Missouri; Terry French and husband Joe of Augusta, Kansas; one son Bill Carter and wife Sam of Joplin, Missouri; sister-in-law, Helen Sue Thompson of Las Vegas, Nevada; along with 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. Private funeral services will be held Saturday at the First Christian Church. Pastor Bobby Wade will officiate. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Ulie will lie in state on Friday from 8:00-5:00 p.m., at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for those that would like to sign the book and pay their respects. Grandson’s will serve as pallbearers for the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church or Baxter Springs Historical Museum in care of the funeral home.
