Helen - Taylor Obituary

Helen Taylor, 94, of Snow Hill, Maryland, peacefully departed this earthly life on Monday, September 28, 2020, at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Medical Center, in Salisbury, Maryland. She was born on September 1, 1926, from the union of the late Howard Purnell and Clara (Foreman) Purnell.

Helen was educated in the Worcester County Public School System. She worked as a private domestic worker for various families in the Snow Hill community, most notably, the family of the late Vay Vandergraff.

She was a faithful member of the Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, Maryland, until her health declined. Helen served with the United Methodist Women, the Wesley Gospel Singers Choir and, she was a former Communion Stewardess. At the time of her passing, Helen was an Honorary Communion Stewardess.

Helen was a kind and loving person who was willing to help anyone in need. She loved to work in her yard, planting and caring for her beautiful flowers. She also loved gardening and providing fresh vegetables for her family, friends, and various members of her community. Her real passion was cooking delicious holiday meals for her family and friends.

Helen leaves to cherish loving memories, her son: Willie (Phyllis) Taylor Jr. of Brandywine, Maryland; two daughters: Peggy Taylor of Berlin, Maryland, and Bessie Taylor of Snow Hill, Maryland; a brother: William “Bud” Purnell of Snow Hill, Maryland; a sister-in-law: Barbara Purnell of Silver Spring, Maryland; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephew, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.  Helen will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

Her parents: Howard Purnell and Clara (Foreman) Purnell; husband: Willie Taylor Sr.; sons: Welton Purnell, and Sylvester Taylor; daughter: Dorothy Purnell; and grandson: Thomas Dennis, all preceded her in death.
