Fred was the eldest of 3 sons born to Ferdinand Majer & Otilija Senekovic Majer. He was born in Lennart Jurovski Dol, in the former Yugoslavia in 1927.

Dad immigrated to Canada in 1952 landing in Halifax.  Working his way across our vast country taking whatever employment was available. Once he saw the Rocky Mountains for the first time, he knew then Canada was going to be his forever country. He continued further west and heard that work was available in Port Alberni. Dad lived many happy years here, blending his Slovenian heritage with a Canadian life and marrying our beloved mom Dec 14th, 1957.

In the evening of Wednesday September 16th, 2020 peacefully, surrounded by his families love, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Ferdinand (Fred) made his final journey home.

Our heart's ache and we yearn for that one last embrace. We take solace in knowing that you are no longer in pain and that you will always be with us. Your love and respect of the great outdoors and your beloved Valley trekking deep into the forest for that elusive mushroom and we will never forget Grandpa Fred’s Honey. The bees miss you! The willingness to lend a helping hand will always be remembered.

Leaving behind the love of his life of 63 years his wife, Theresa;  daughter, Elizabeth (Chris); son, William; grandchildren, Joel, Stephanie (Dwayne); great grandchildren, Joshua and Alysa.

Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Fred’s wishes there will be no formal service.
