Funeral Services for Mrs. Gail Wheelis, 83, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Pastor Ottis Lenoir officiating. Interment will follow in Rutledge Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Wednesday. Gail Wheelis was born May 28, 1937 and gained her wings September 27, 2020, with her loved ones by her side. For years she was an avid bowler and volleyball player. Mrs. Gail loved to travel around the country and world, she loved talking about her adventures. She was a dedicated mother, especially loved her role as Mamaw. She was always bragging about her kids and grandkids. If you couldn’t find her at home, she could be found doing one of her favorite pastimes, playing bingo or playing slots at the casino. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Rutledge and Mattie Lee Rutledge; and brother, Roger Rutledge. Survivors include her husband, David Wheelis; children, Mike Wheelis and wife Janice, Don Wheelis and wife Carolyn, and Sheri Lindsey and husband Todd; eight grandchildren, Phillip Wheelis and wife Lyndy, Patrick Wheelis and wife Amanda, Cody Warner and wife Lacey, Adam Wheelis and wife Kayla, Summer Warner, Megan Wheelis and fiancé Andy, Brandy Wheelis, and Chris Wheelis; and sixteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Phillip Wheelis, Patrick Wheelis, Adam Wheelis, Cody Warner, Christian Wheelis, and Peyton Wheelis. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
