<p>Mrs. Vonnell McCoy Stephens, age 87, of Vidalia, died Sunday, September 27, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness.&nbsp; She was a native of the Rockledge Community in Laurens County, living most of her life in East Dublin before moving to Vidalia twenty years ago.&nbsp; She worked at Shamrock Manufacturing in Dublin for many years and retired from food services after several years.&nbsp; She was a member of Calvary on Aimwell in Vidalia, and she enjoyed fishing, flowers, gardening and shelling peas and butterbeans.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stephens; three grandchildren, Lynn Hall, twins Joseph Kyle Szakacs and Alexandria&nbsp;Marie Szakacs; parents, Major McCoy and Effie Louise Allen McCoy; and one brother, Don McCoy.</p> <p>Mrs. Stephens is survived by four children, Gail Hall Wilson and husband Joe of Kite, Bertha Hall Dukes of the Marvin Yancey Community, Connie Hall Szakacs of Vidalia, and Isaac Hall and wife Lori of Monroe; five sisters, Elizabeth McCoy Barwick of Vidalia, Marilyn McCoy Thigpen of Rockledge, Georgia McCoy Barwick of the Cedar Crossing Community, Mary Lou McCoy Warren and husband Garland of Rentz, and Ann McCoy Bohannon and husband Danny of Hazlehurst; seven&nbsp;grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Wednesday afternoon&nbsp;from 2:30 until just prior to the service.</p> <p>A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 30th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Minter Cemetery with Pastor Efton Green officiating.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation.
