Hubert Young

YOUNG, Hubert ‘Hugh’ Charles ~ February 9, 1939 – September 26, 2020 ~ Hugh Young passed away suddenly in his 81st year at home. He left behind his wife Lilliane Young née Rochon. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in November. He also left behind his children Janette, Ken, Cathy and Derek, daughter-in-law Claudia, and his grandchildren Adam, Jenna, Sarah, Shannon, Kyle, Ethan, Owen and Evan. He is also survived by his sisters Roberta and Janet, and many nieces and nephews. Hugh retired from Ontario Motor Sales as a Grand Master Technician after 46 years; and lived with his wife in the house they built on Sturgeon Lake – the ‘cottage’. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, always helping his children, and friends with interesting projects. He was at his happiest working outside on the lakefront and in his workshop – one of his favourite sayings was ‘Just try to keep up’. In the summer, he could always be found down at the shore sitting in his lawn chair looking out over the water – especially at 5 o-clock dock time. He was loved and will be so missed. A special thank you to sister-in-law Diane and brother-in-law Walter, and our neighbours Gord & Shirley, John, and Grant. According to his wishes Hugh has been cremated. If so desired donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Memorial visitation will take place Thursday October 1st from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Memorial Mass on Friday October 2nd may be reserved for family in order to keep compliance with numbers allowed during Covid. A celebration of life will take place Friday October 2nd from 3:00 - 5:00 at Newcastle Funeral Home.
