Edward E Murray, Jr Obituary

Life Reflections 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” Edward Murray, Jr. (68) was born on September 5, 1952 in Greeleyville, South Carolina to the Late Edward Murray, Sr., and Bessie Sherman-Murray. Edward “Took”, as he was affectionately known, was raised by the Late Rosalee Murray-Williams. Edward attended Charles E. Murray High School (formerly known as Williamsburg County Training School). He worked as a farm day laborer. Edward’s favorite hobbies were fishing, bike riding, listening to oldies but goodies, and spending time with his family and friends! As Took was known to be extremely joyful at times, and the family comedian, sometimes it took him back to his Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage with some of his famous sayings: “Wa wrong widem”; “oui, oui, oui, oui”, “Shot Who”, and “I raise you!” Took lived him a simple and yet complicated life and touched our lives in many ways. He will be remembered as a clown, an opinionated brother, a great friend, an uncle, a cousin, an outdoorsman and farmer, and a friendly face in town as well as in the yard of his house by the side of the road. Took was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Earline Murray. He answered the Master’s call on Monday, September 28, 2020 in Greeleyville, SC. Edward leaves to cherish his sweet and precious memories a host of relatives and friends including his sisters, Florence Woods of Greeleyville, SC and Dorothy Williams, of Fort Washington, MD; a special nephew, Fernandez Brown II; a brother, Albert Murray (Connie), of Temple Hills, MD; nephews, Thomas Michael Woods (Loletha), and John Edward Williams (Denice); nieces, Jacqueline Woods-East (Michael), Arthena Woods, Delores Woods-Martin (Alvin), Elizabeth Williams, Rosemary Williams, Edwina Williams, and Nancy Rease (Tyrone); special cousins, Vernon McClary, Sr., Vernon McClary, Jr., Jermaine McClary, Gwendolyn Limehouse and Martha Brooks; a special aunt, Francis Limehouse, and special friends, James Gibson, John Gibson and Joseph Green.
