Lorelei Claeys, 91, passed away on September 27, 2020. Lorelei was an only child born May 8, 1929, to Frank and Clara Patzlaff. Lorelei graduated from Benton Harbor High School and was married to John (Jack) Claeys for 70 years before his death in 2018. Lorelei enjoyed picnics with family and friends, sightseeing across the United States by travel trailer, and reading a good book. She enjoyed music and was a regular at the St. Joseph Municipal Band Concerts. She was especially known for her songs she sang for her kids and grandchildren whenever they were together. Lorelei retired as secretary for Lake Michigan Catholic Middle School when she and her husband spent winters in the Florida sunshine, “her piece of heaven”. She was preceded in death by her parents and sons Jack and Gary. She is survived by her loving children Cheryl Claeys, Sun City Center FL, Craig (Julie) Claeys, Coopersville MI, Jill (Janie) Claeys, Watervliet MI, Mary (Norm) Brady, Ada MI. She has seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her daughter-in-law Sally (Ernie) Gilson. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be planned for the spring. The family is very grateful to the wonderful staff at Azpira Place for the loving care they provided Lorelei and Jack.
