Kathryn "Kay" Watkins was also known as "G. Mom" was born in the small community of Emhouse on March 22, 1923. She was the firstborn of two daughters to Jewel (Threet) and Homer Reames.
She was preceded in death by her husband George A. Watkins; a sister Helen, a daughter Linda; and a grandchild, Rickey Arnold Sullivan Jr.
Her sister Helen gave our family a precious treasure; Kathey Gray Comer.
Her three remaining children; George Ann Watkins O'Bannon, Tim Alvin Watkins and Lynn Emery Taylor spent their time and energy providing love and care for their Mother.
Kay has 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Angel Gamboa cared for Linda for the last several years of her life and since then has been a faithful writer keeping G-Mom posted on all the world from the Austin area. Lynn Emery Taylor unofficially became a member of our family in Elementary school. Her laughter and joy from all her happiness have made our family much happier through the years, along with all her friends who resided with her the eight plus years she lived at Prestige Estates in Tyler. They were her extended family and friends.
Kay loved traveling to the Orient and to other parts around the world. She also enjoyed both Social and Duplicate Bridge and quilting, which she did for over thirty years. Her last words were "I can only Imagine". She loved everyone as much as they loved her.
G Mom will miss a very special day coming up soon: the birth of Sarah and Michael’s baby boy who is expected to arrive around Thanksgiving!.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 2:30 until 3:00 PM at Corley Funeral Home with a service at 3:00PM at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny P. Reeves officiating. A private family burial will be held Friday, October 2, 2020 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
