Gary Tanner, 66, of Lucedale, MS, passed away on Friday, September, 25, 2020. He was born on February 1, 1954, in Lucedale, MS. After 45 years, Gary retired from Halter Marine, where he had worked since he was 18 years old. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, and going to watch the races. Though he had many hobbies and interests, he loved spending time with his family more than anything. He was an amazing husband, father, “Pepaw”, and friend. Gary’s family will miss his infectious laugh and sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his brother, David Tanner, his sister, Judy Finch, his grandson, Carter Keith Bond, and his father, James Tanner. Gary is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cindy Tanner; children, Lee (Katie) Tanner, Amanda Tanner, and Chris (Megan) Tanner; grandchildren, Gavin, Savannah Jones, Whitley, Lexi, Dean, Savannah Tanner, Cherish, Cerenity, Chandler, Zachary, Grace, and Makayla; mother, Betty Rein; siblings, Rick Tanner and Steven (Donna) Tanner; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Brother Greg Clark officiating. Due to the concerns surrounding COVID-19, face masks are required to attend the service. The number of visitors in the building may be limited by our staff at any given time. Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated in Moss Point/Escatawpa, MS, is honored to serve the family of Mr. Gary Tanner.
