Michael (Mike) North March 14th,1937 - September 27th, 2020 .... When I get where I'm going, I'll spread my wings and fly....... Following a heroic battle through his extended illness, Mike passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre in St. John’s. Predeceased by his father James, mother Irene, sister Rene and brother Harry. Leaving to mourn and truly inspired by his strength and perseverance throughout his journey; his wife of 63 years Marina (Bishop), sister Ruth (Crotty) step mother Marie, children Jim (Judy), Cathy (Alan), Michele (Mike), Marilyn (Derek), Barry (Roberto); grandchildren Tina, Jesse, James, Ken, Ryan, Tyler, Amanda, Janel, Natasha and Luke; great grandchildren Emma, Dominic, Liam, Mason, Avery and Wyatt; and a large extended family and circle of friends. The family would like to acknowledge and extend special thanks to the Tobin’s (Ron, Ann Marie , Ryan and Melissa) and the rest of his neighbours for their kindness, generosity and support over the years. Additional thanks to Dr. O'Dea, Dr. Emily Moores, the Palliative Care team of the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre and the Conception Bay South Community Health Nurses for the care provided during the final stages of his illness. Visitation to be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl on Tuesday, September 29th, from 4pm--9:00pm. Cremation to follow. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
