Paul Eugene Kelley Obituary

Paul Eugene Kelley

Paul Eugene Kelley, 82, resident of Timber Pines in Spring Hill, FL, passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2020 surrounded by his family after a long illness. Born on November 16th, 1937 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he was the son of Francis Clifford and Catherine (Ducey) Kelley. He was a devoted and loving husband and proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie (Parent) Kelley, son Paul Kelley of Westborough, MA and son Edward Kelley and his wife Heidi (Moore) Kelley of Land O’ Lakes, FL and their two children Brad and Anya. He is also survived by his brothers Edmund Kelley of Spring Hill, FL and Austin Kelley of Bensalem, PA and his sister Joan Faldasz of Tewksbury, MA along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is predeceased by his son Michael Kelley of Nashua, NH, his brothers Francis, Walter and John “Jack” Kelley and his sister Arlene Kelley. Paul served in the United States Army Signal Corps (USASC) and was stationed in Korea after the war, reaching the rank of Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge, Paul embarked on an engineering career that started at Honeywell (where he met his future wife) and concluded at Teradyne in 2001. Early in his career, he took advantage of the GI Bill and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. And for more than ten years of his retirement in Florida, he ran his own notary public and signing service, American Eagle Signing Service, which covered Hernando and surrounding counties and gave Paul a chance to explore the area and be a business owner – a lifelong dream. After starting a family in Somerville, MA, he and his wife Marie relocated to Hudson, NH where they lived for 30 years retiring in 2003 to the Timber Pines community in Spring Hill, FL. The family has many cherished memories from their time on Tessier Street in Hudson and all their wonderful friends and neighbors. Paul was mechanically inclined, a craftsman and very much lived the “do-it-yourself” lifestyle. There was never a technical problem or job that he couldn’t solve. He single-handedly built an in-home beauty salon for his wife’s business, Family Hair and Skin Care by Marie, as well as a deck and sunroom, a barn shed and a finished basement. He also installed a pool and built his own pool filtering system. And he maintained the family’s cars over the years with a memorable achievement being a full engine rebuild for the family’s Volvo. After retiring, he even took up web and mobile development and maintained his own website for his notary public and signing service company. Apart from his technical wizardry, Paul also found time for his hobbies including golf, photography, astronomy, solving Sudoku puzzles and reading novels from his favorite British murder mystery authors. His family will miss his smile, his hugs and his wit the most. A walk-through visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th from 9:00am – 10:30am in the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST. IN HUDSON. A private graveside service and burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hudson. All guests attending services are asked to please wear a face mask or facial covering and to please respect the social distancing guidelines put in place. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Husam Abuzarad, Dr. Omar Hamoui, Elaine Smeriglio and the rest of the staff at HPH Hospice Chapters Health System, for all the compassionate and skilled care they gave to Paul.
