Obituary

On September 23, 2020, Sandra “Sandy” Sue Archer Thompson, age 71, passed away at Lutheran Hospital in Ft Wayne, IN.

Sandy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 4, 1949.  She graduated from Howe High School in 1967.  Sandy spent her life working mainly in the medical field, retiring as a Billing Specialist/Billing Department Lead in 2013.

Sandy was the proud mother of two children ~ Brian and Leanne.  She dedicated her life to raising them and loving them.  From attending every sporting event of Brian’s to teaching Leanne how to bake an amazing cake.  They truly were her heart & soul ~ her sole purpose.

Grandma Sandy - that was her favorite title!  13 years ago she welcomed Rylen into her heart ~ loving his big blue eyes and priceless smile from just days old.  She welcomed Evan in 2009 and was lucky enough to spend a couple of years babysitting him on her days off.

One cannot talk about Sandy without mentioning her amazing cake decorating skills, not to mention how delicious they were, her welcoming, friendly and happy demeanor towards anyone visiting her, her sense of humor that existed until the very end, and her ability to throw a super fun pool party.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, John M. Archer, Sr. & Leona M. Archer.  Her brother, John M. Archer, Jr.  She is survived by her son, Brian Thompson of Carmel, IN.  Her daughter, Leanne Wheeldon (Brian) of Fishers, IN.   Two brothers, Mike Archer and Daniel Archer (Susan).  A sister, Rebecca Burkart (Jay). Two grandsons, 7 nieces, 1 nephew, several great nieces and great nephews.

At Sandy’s request, there will be a simple graveside family service.

Donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, National Headquarters, 6520 N. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2132.
