Robert Ross Chambers Obituary

Robert Ross Chambers passed away in Wawanesa, Manitoba on September 24, 2020 at the age of 79. Ross was the youngest of 9 children to John and Jean Chambers, and was raised on the family farm outside of Belmont, Manitoba. In 1968 he married Mavis (Dunlop) and they were married for 50 years. In 1974 they had their daughter, Diane (Perry). In 1976 they moved from Brandon to Wawanesa into the house they built. Ross worked for Wyeth Organics in Brandon for nearly 40 years and retired in 2005. One of his greatest passions in life was Harness Racing. He owned and drove horses for almost 40 years, and continued to be involved with the races throughout the rest of his life. He enjoyed his retirement years woodworking, golfing and playing cards, as well as continuing to attend the Harness Races, where in his last years he participated by driving the starting gate. He also devoted several years to the Wawanesa Agricultural Society. Ross is predeceased by his wife Mavis, parents Albert & Jeannetta, brothers Milton (May) and John, and sister Florence Remus, as well as brothers-in-law Lorne Lambkin, Larry Juniper & Morley Leachman. Ross will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Diane, her husband Phil, and their two children, Harper and Hudson, along with his sisters Ali Leachman, Pat Juniper, Margaret (Mac) Davidson, Dorothy Lambkin and brother, Lynn Chambers, brother-in-law Dick Remus, sister-in-law Linda Chambers, as well as special friend Myrna Kerbis. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held on Friday October 2, 2020 at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MB with Rev. Harvey Hurren officiating. Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Ross' memory to the Wawanesa United Church, PO Box 206, Wawanesa MB, R0K 2G0. The service will be available to view online at www.willmorchapel.com later in the evening.
