Amy Streifel Obituary

Amy Streifel, age 47, resident of Spring, TX, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center.

Amy Jo Shirek was born on July 9, 1973 in McVille, ND, the eldest daughter of Robert James and Mary Kay (Anderson) Shirek. Raised on the rural Shirek farmstead in Lankin, ND, Amy attended Michigan Public School, graduating with the class of 1991. She then attended the University of North Dakota. On February 25, 1995 she was united in marriage to Mark Fredrick Streifel at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church in Michigan, ND. After a brief amount of time in Washburn, ND, she and Mark decided to set out on a new chapter in Grand Junction, CO, where she worked at a law firm. It was not too long before she and Mark resettled their lives back in Washburn, ND, where, together, they built a company, Martech Media Inc., and a family. Blessed with their two daughters, who were the center of Amy's world, and after spending 11 years living in Washburn, ND, they moved to Spring, TX, where Amy truly lived her best life. Along with being once again close to her life-long best friend, she fully embraced her love of        traveling, exploring eight European countries (her favorites being Italy and Czech Republic), several Central American and Caribbean countries (Grand Cayman as her favorite family trip), and an abundance of destinations across the US. She loved to craft and sew and was an amazing baker and cook. She spent her last year’s laughing and chatting with her “Wine-Ever” ladies, and many other wonderful friends and family members. Amy was a dedicated Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer and found sanctitude in the meaningful work she did. She was looking forward to traveling the country with Mark in their new RV, planning Julia’s upcoming wedding to Braxton Sides, and visiting Claire at the University of Arkansas. Above all, Amy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She touched countless lives and will be greatly missed by all.

Amy is survived by her husband Mark; daughters, Julia and Claire; siblings Nicole (Shaun) Sjolin of Conroe, TX, Tracy (Wayne) Larson of Brocket, ND, Ryan (Jamy) Shirek of Lakota, ND; numerous nieces and nephews; and Mark’s extended family.

Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Kay Shirek; grandparents, Frank and Agnes Shirek, Kenny and Mary Lou Anderson; aunts and uncles, Sandy Swanson, Bob Frank, Tom and Michele Shirek; and cousin, John Swanson.

The Memorial Service will be held at Addison Funeral Home, Spring, TX, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., and a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Bechyne, rural Lankin, ND, on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery- there will be no reception to follow. Masks are asked to be worn at both services.
