James Elbert Day Obituary

James Elbert Day, 76, a resident of The Meadows, passed away September 22, 2020 at Albany Medical Center. James was born in Brattleboro, VT on July 21, 1944 the son of the late George and Margaret Coulter Day. He attended Jamaica schools and graduated from Leland & Gray High School. James served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam war era. He was a self-employed handy man providing property maintenance for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Manchester, former Scout member in Manchester and was awarded the Silver Beaver, a National award for service to the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball and listening to his beloved New York Yankees on the radio. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, watching the Lawrence Welk Show and time spent with family and friends. James is survived by his daughters Theresa Karnes (Duane Fogg) of Longwood, FL and Tina LeClair (John) of Lake Mary, FL, his former wife Judy Day of Manchester, VT and his grandchildren Jameson Day Karnes and Annalise Elizabeth and Hunter John LeClair. He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Connolly and half-brother George Day, Jr.. Graveside funeral services for James will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 11am in Pleasant View Cemetery in Jamaica. Visiting hours will be held Monday, September 28, 2020 at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT from 4-7pm. If friends desire, memorial gifts in James memory may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Home P.O.
