Carolyn Currie Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Wells Currie, age 82, of the Smyrna Community, died Thursday, September 24, 2020, in Meadows Health in Vidalia after a brief illness.  She was a native of Jeff Davis County and was a 1957 graduate of Jeff Davis High School where she also played varsity basketball.  She graduated from beauty school in Dublin and was the former owner of Carolyn’s Beauty Shop.  She was a member of the Uvalda Baptist Church; and she enjoyed yard work and was an animal lover.  She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Don Currie in 2011; parents, Robert Wells and Mary Dell Mimbs Wells; and one brother, Bobby Gene Wells.

Mrs. Currie is survived by one daughter, Celeste Currie McLemore and husband Tony of the Smyrna Community; two grandsons, Chase McLemore and wife Shellie of Dexter, and Tyler McLemore of Macon; two great-grandsons, Briar McLemore and Landon McLemore; one great-granddaughter, Sawyer McLemore; a great-grandchild to be born in May; one sister, Cindy Wells Hall of Hazlehurst; one brother, Robbie Wells of Hazlehurst; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church Family Life Center on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 26th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church Family Life Center with Pastor Reece Mincey and Pastor Adrian Bell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery.
