Lake Andes - Alona Ebright, 77, died at Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes on Friday, September 25, 2020. Memorial service will be Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 10:00 am at Duck In Waddle Out (formerly the Lake Andes VFW) in Lake Andes with burial following in Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Andes. Alona Marie Ebright was born on August 30, 1943 at Wagner, SD to Ernest E. and Alice (Chytka) Bures. She married Verlyn G. Ebright on December 11, 1959. To this union, four children were born; Myron, Myla, LaVal and LaVern. During her lifetime, Alona's career years were of a variety of positions. She worked as a Law Enforcement Officer in Lake Andes and Wagner; janitor at Marty Mission School, representative for Blair and House of Lloyd, and manager/bartender of the Lake Andes VFW. Alona was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Women's Bowling Association. Some of Alona's hobbies were gardening produce and flowers, bowling, darts, anything Elvis, Waylon Jennings music, listening to and collecting old style country music…but she especially enjoyed Bingo and Sudoku puzzles. Alona died at Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the age of 77. Alona is survived by her children: Myron (special friend, Peggy Vassar) Ebright of Sioux Falls, SD; Myla Ebright of Black Hawk, SD, and LaVern (Liz) Ebright of Rapid City, SD; siblings on her mother's side: Stanley (Marcy) Solko of Green Bay, WI; Denise Solko of Rapid City, SD; Joe (Jae Hyoung) Solko of Las Vegas, SD and Marguerite (Terry) Van Zee of Geddes, SD; siblings on her father's side: Ernie Ray (Debbie) Bures of Tyndall, SD; Jo Ann (Ron) Mazourek of Wagner, SD; Richard (Deb) Bures of Aberdeen, SD; Marilyn (Greg) Markley of Aberdeen, SD; Tom (Donajean) Bures of Sgt. Bluff, IA; Helen (Brian) Martin of Amarillo, TX; and Frank (Dawn) Bures of Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law: Joann Fischer; Darla Rhodes; and Carolyn Rhodes; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Verlyn in 2007, daughter, LaVal in 2012, father and step-mother (Irene), mother, step-father (Steve Solko), half-brother, Edward Bures; half-sister, Leona (Bures) Bergin; half-sister's husband, Wayne Bergin; and a brother-in-law, Dale Ebright.
