On September 24, 2020, after a long battle with sickness, William “Mike” Hillary Allen McKenney, 60, went peacefully to be with the Lord. Mike was at home, surrounded by family and friends, when he was called home. Mike, born January 30, 1960, was preceded in death by Lillian McKenney (mother), John McKenney (father), Libby Reel (sister), Carol Nixon (sister), and Johny McKenney (brother). Mike is survived by Becky Smith, his life partner of 21 years, numerous brothers, and sisters, and three children Shauntae (husband Todd), Christopher, Tonya (husband Alan) and Frank. He is additionally survived by his granddaughters, Abbey, Chloe, Onyka, Frankee, Madison, Zuir, Rozalyn, and grandsons Camdyn, Broadie, Jayden, and Aiden. Though he is gone, he will never be forgotten by so many who loved him. Though recent years have precluded him, Mike loved to travel, and be with family. His sense of humor was unmatched. Though his children were not biological, they were his children without question. Mike was absolutely always there for them, just a call away. Until God calls us all home to be together, you will forever remain in our hearts. Friends and family are asked to gather in celebration at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 30 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Sandy Cowan officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Davis Memorial Cemetery. The pain we suffer is real, but it is eased by your memory.
