Gerald Wesely Salisbury

Born November 14, 1926 in Gordon, Nebraska, the fifth child of Vern and Edna Salisbury. After graduating from Gordon High School in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII from 1944-1946. Upon his return stateside, he married Donna Stouffer, his high school sweetheart on November 23,1947. That beautiful union spanned 72 years and 9 months, full of love and commitment to each other. From that union five children were born. Jerry as his friends called him, worked in the grocery business at Riverside Store in Boise, owned Jerry's 88 Center in Twin Falls, sold for Zurcher Merchandise and finally he worked for Associated Foods for 17 years, where he was a non food salesman to stores throughout the Treasure Valley and eastern Oregon before his retirement in 1988. He was a man of deep faith, which he lived and shared in many ways. Always active in a local church, most recently Summit Church and also gave much time to other ministries, his favorite being Boise Rescue Mission, where he served in volunteer leadership for over 20 years. He loved to sing, was a member of a quartet in high school and often participated in the choir at church. Survivors includes wife Donna Salisbury,children- Cherie (Ken) Hovde, Gary(Cevillia) Salisbury, Karen(Dennis) Law, Ron(Alice)Salisbury, Steve(Tina) Salisbury; Six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. A family graveside service of honor will be held at Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, a public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
