Myrtle Grothe, 89 year old Woodward resident, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 in Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 2, 2020 in the Free Will Baptist Church. Private family interment will be held at a later date,

Myrtle Louise (Sanders) was born on August 28, 1931 in Capron, Oklahoma to Hiram R. and Mary Lavina (O’Dell) Sanders. Her family lived in Alva for three years before moving to Fairview where she attended school. Myrtle was united in marriage to Louis Grothe on September 8, 1948 in Canadian, Texas. They made their home in Alva and traveled back and forth to California until moving to Woodward in 1956. She has lived in Woodward since that time.

She gave her heart to the Lord on September 1, 1983. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and she taught Sunday School classes and held various offices in the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved helping with Childrens Church. Myrtle loved flowers and always had roses and various other flowers in the yard wherever she lived. She loved traveling with her husband to Canada, Mexico and all over central and the western United States on their Gold Wing 1000 motorcycle. Myrtle was a very kind and loving person and she always was willing to lend a helping hand. Her energy, positive outlook and sense of humor put people at ease. She loved people and never met a stranger.

She is survived by two daughters: Susan Parker and husband Evan of Woodward, Loretta Wilkins and husband Keith of Woodward; two sisters: Ann Nelson of Chico, California, Freida Wilmot and companion Roy Arthur of Carrier, Oklahoma; granddaughters: Keesha Doss and husband Dan of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Kendra Barr and husband Will of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren: Silas, Kadance, Levi, Teagun, Jai, and Meira; many other extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis Grothe, five brothers, Frank, Ray, Joe, Lee and Bob and four sisters, Vivian, Georgia, Golda, and Ruby, one grandson, Louis Richardson.
