Springfield - Luz D Hernandez, 81, departed this life on Friday, September 18th, 2020. Luz was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on November 26th, 1938, to her parents Benito Hernandez and Ramona Quintero Rodriguez. Luz spent most of her working years helping and taking care of others. A graduate of the Bible Institute, she was an active church member. She had been a Sunday School Teacher at the church and in the community. She was very loving and giving; she was very devoted to her family and especially enjoyed cooking for and spending time with them. Luz was predeceased by her parents and her Brother: Francisco Hernandez. Luz was loved by her family and she leaves to cherish her memories, Two Sons: Elbin Vargas and his wife,Suzanne Vargas, Ernesto J. Quintero Rodriguez and his wife, Ana Lugo, a Daughter: Evelyn Pujals Castillo and her husband, Carlos Castillo, a Sister: Awilda Quintero and her husband, Ubernesto Maldonado Molina, Seven Grandchildren: Elizabeth Vargas, Veronica Vargas, Jesus Quintero Lugo, Valeris Quintero Lugo, Amy Casiano Diaz and her husband, Alex Diaz, Evelyn Chambers and her husband, Jonathan Chambers and Carlos Ruben Castillo, Seven Great Grandchildren: Elena, Marley and Jonathan Chambers, Isis, Xavier, Ava and Annalise Diaz, a Sister-In-Law: Maria "Toñita" Hernandez, Two Nieces: Linda and Lorraine, Four Nephews: Franklin, Dwight, Ubernesto and Joel, and a host of family and friends. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at Spanish Christian Church, 565 Chestnut St, Springfield, MA 01107. Burial will be private.
