Funeral service for Torris Hornsby, age 70, of Jacksonville will be 2 o’clock in the afternoon, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. Brad Noble and Chaplain Eddy Secrest officiating. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. He will be laid to rest in Still Waters Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Mr. Hornsby passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 in his home. Torris was born January 26, 1947 in St Joseph, LA to David and Gussie Hornsby. Torris loved the Lord, his family and was a “knock it out of the park” Papa. He loved to travel in his R.V., had a passion for cars and was known to be very patriotic. He also enjoyed doing yard work and the flowers from his yard. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-parents, George and Ruth Lord; and a sister, Amanda Price. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of many years, Dowan Hornsby of Jacksonville; son, Clint Hornsby and wife Ashtynn of Woodville; daughter, Crystal Russell and husband Tim of Rusk, sisters, Eula Hearne and husband Clyde of Tenn, Ida Herrington, Brenda Darden both of LA, and Beverly Lewis and husband Sherman of AR; brother, David Hornsby and wife Joyce of LA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Elizabeth Russell, Cole Hornsby, Shyanne Seals, Olivia Hornsby, and Wyatt Walden; mother-in-law, Betty Slaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Moe Acker, David Acker, Richard Slaughter, Shelton Seals, Robert Brown, James Walker, J.D. Wilson and Jarrell Slaughter. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 o’clock this evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
