Glenna Kae Rodriguez Edmonds, Washington Obituary

Glenna Kae Rodriguez

Glenna Kae Rodriguez (Barnett) passed away at home, with her family by her side, on September 23, 2020 after a short illness with cancer. She was 74. Born in Anchorage, AK she grew up on the homestead built by her parents, Robert and Virginia Barnett, with her sister, Robie, and brother, Jack. Not surprisingly she grew to be a strong and independent woman with a loving nature. Glenna was proud of her work for British Overseas Airways Corporation and still had pictures on the wall of her time there. She would later work for multiple agencies with the federal government where she would meet her husband, David. They had two kids and when the kids were little she stayed home with them, and supported them in taking them to soccer, baseball, and being a girl scout troop leader. When the kids were older she worked for the school district cafeteria. After the kids were grown, she worked for Natural Wonders and Pier1, “just to keep herself occupied.” Glenna loved to travel visiting, Kenya, Tanzania, Mexico, Panama, England, Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, Belize, Honduras, Martinique, St. Kitts, and the Bahamas. Hawaii was her favorite vacation spot where she could visit with her grandchildren. With her family she lived in Mexico, Georgia, Illinois, Washington, and Virginia. Through all the moves and upheaval, she was the one to provide a sense of normalcy and home for everyone. She loved to cook, do beadwork, crochet, and do ancestry research. Though not much of a sports fan, she enjoyed going to soccer games, and became a devoted Sounders fan. She enjoyed going to Broadway plays of which, her favorites were Phantom of the Opera, Le Miz, Hamilton, and the Lion King. Her favorite hobby was making rosaries for friends and family members. She looked forward to going to Mass on Sunday and would always sit near the front so she could see and hear better. One could find Glenna and David at the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast or just having coffee after mass. Most of all she enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother and was fiercely protective of her family. She is survived by her husband of over forty years, David Rodriguez; brother Jack (Beth) Barnett; son Robert (Leigh) Rodriguez and their three children who live in Hawaii; and daughter Kathryn (Russ) Sattarov and their two children who live in Snohomish. A rosary and private funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton with inurnment following at Holyrood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests Masses offered in her name.
